Room 209, Friday Evening

So, tomorrow was Picnic Day, which meant all kinds of fresh blood arriving to the island. All kinds. It also meant that it was the ass end of break week, and Sparkle hadn't gone out and done anything exceptionally ridiculous the whole time. He'd even mostly behaved himself on Canada Day. On Canada Day, when he could have been getting drunk and high and lighting small buildings on fire for shits and giggles or something.

Well, tonight, he was going to do something, if he had any say in the matter. He had pulled out like every cosmetic item to his name, and now he was poking through the lot of it, picking out this and that and just generally contemplating what face he was going to present to whatever poor idiot managed to get themselves stuck on the island this time.

"I could go blonde," he mused, pulling out a bottle of hair bleach. "I actually do blonde pretty well."

Tonight was going to be fun.

[Expecting one, but the room is open for anyone who might happen to wander by. Sparkle's got the door cracked open.]

Sholeh nodded. She really hadn't thought about what she'd be wearing for the date. She didn't have enough clothes to warrant changing. "You're smirking," she accused him.

"Polka dots?!" Sholeh gasped. "Rude!" She reached out to poke him in the ribs. "Don't make fun of my freckles!"

Sparkle was such a giant brat it wasn't even funny.

"Why aren't you gonna cover them up? I thought the point of makeup is to look prettier?"

"I'd be orange!" Sholeh said, wrinkling her nose. "Okay, that would be terrible!"

For one thing, the orange would clash with her hair. Stupid hair.

"Great, you found the one thing worse than freckles."

"Dalmatian spots?" As soon as Sholeh discovered that movie, you were so dead, Sparkle. So, so dead. As in 'would sic Zeela on you to make sure of it' dead.

"Sure, real cute," she sniffed. "How are you gonna pull attention to my eyes. If you even say connect the dots into an arrow...!"

Sholeh nodded, leaning forward and closing her eyes so Sparkle could work.

"So..." she said quietly, after she felt the flicker of tiny brushes on her face. "About everything..."

"But it wasn't you," Sholeh said. "Not really. It's like those weird weekends where we wake up someone else for a bit. The guy who killed me wore your face, but that doesn't make him you."

"So were we." Sholeh's face, Sholeh's mouth made the words, but it was Zeela's voice. "So were we, for the entire time."

Sholeh reached out and touched Sparkle's arm. "It was you, but it wasn't. I get that now. We get that now."

Zeela still wasn't thrilled, but she understood.

"We could either stay scared and mad or we could let it go. That wasn't you, so...we're letting it go."

[identity profile] 3girls-1core.livejournal.com 2013-07-13 08:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"If we stayed mad, we'd lose a friend," Sholeh pointed out softly. "We don't have so many that we can afford to throw one away."

Sholeh obediently looked up and did miss the swipe of Sparkle's hand over his eyes. "Zeela is taking badgerface as a compliment," she reported. "But it's hard making friends when you have to lie to them. It just doesn't feel right."

[identity profile] 3girls-1core.livejournal.com 2013-07-13 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
"It's only fair," Sholeh said with a careless shrug. "I lied to you about a lot of stuff. And then my sister badgerfaced at you."

=No regrets.=

::No one thinks you had any,:: Sholeh told her wryly.

"Maybe I should take lessons, then," Sholeh murmured, keeping her eyes closed. Both at once were easier than one at a time. "I'm not very good at lying and I'm going to have to for the rest of my life."

Boo.
